Welcome to Milltown National School, Milltown, Belturbet, Co.Cavan
Principal’s Welcome
Ta fáilte romhat chuig suíomh-gréasáin S.N. Baile an Mhuilinn. You will find our school ‘on the hill’ overlooking the village of Milltown. Our vision is to develop knowledge and character in every pupil empowering them to meet, with assured confidence, the challenges of life now and in the future. As a Christian community we aim to be a warm and welcoming school, respectful and accommodating of diversity in race, culture, religion, gender and ability.
We aim to promote equality and support pupils with special educational needs.
We are an integral part of the parish of Drumlane and, in partnership with parents and the Church, we aim to nurture the Catholic faith through religious education, preparation for the sacraments and through our school ethos. We are a learning community promoting, modelling and valuing lifelong learning. Parents are their children’s primary educators and we strive to empower and utilise parents to be actively involved in their child’s education and the life of our school.
We value our relationship with our local community and actively promote our pupils’ and their families’ involvement in their community.
We strive to provide a nurturing, positive, holistic learning experience for every pupil and commit our resources to challenging and empowering each other. At the heart of a growing rural community, our school is committed to developing each pupil to their full potential.
Our goal is to educate and empower our children developing a love of learning in their most formative years that will serve them for all of their lives. It is a challenge we relish.

Mission Statement
Milltown N.S. strives to provide a well-structured, nurturing, happy, inclusive and safe learning environment. We aspire to develop the intellectual, spiritual and physical needs of all pupils. Our school is a welcoming environment which bolsters children’s creativity, morality and cultural needs. We aim to provide a modern, stimulating, challenging and holistic education for all of our pupils. We encourage language learning and we value languages and their place in our culture, heritage and wider community.
While Milltown N.S. is a school with a Catholic ethos, it also gives due recognition and welcomes children of all other religious beliefs and none.
Milltown N.S. encourages the involvement of parents, guardians and the wider community in our school, through their involvement in the development and growth of the Parents’ Association and other community groups.
Milltown N.S. encourages our pupils to have respect for diversity, environmental awareness and an appreciation of our community. We are a school which prides itself on being an inclusive space for all pupils and staff members.
We seek to promote, both individually and collectively, the professional and personal development of teachers and SNAs through professional development programmes.
In Milltown N.S. we endeavour to enhance the self-esteem and well-being of everyone in the school community. Developing resilience, self-respect and respect for others is of paramount importance to us. We aim to prepare our pupils for their place in a modern society by actively promoting equality and by celebrating the diversity we have within our school community.
