Science Week

2nd class had a fun filled week exploring science with the help of some 6th class students.

We made beautiful black cats for our Halloween art.

Art - Cherry blossom trees art  inspired our geography lessons on Vietnam

The artist for the month of February is Georgia O'Keeffe. An American artist, who painted close up views of flowers.

As part of the St Valentines day theme, we discussed the qualities of a good friend . The children picked a name out of a hat and wrote positive messages about their secret friend.

The children in second class are reading the novel Charlotte's Web by EB White. They had great fun writing their own recount of what they had read in chapter 9. 

The children in 2nd class had lots of fun researching information about the planets in our Solar System. They worked in pairs and carried out research on a planet and presented their findings to the class. Each pair created their planet using paper Mache and paints. The children also researched the first landing on the Moon.  They wrote a news report recounting this epic moment in history.

2nd Class projects of the solar System.

There was a fabulous array of Hallowe’en masks as part of our mask competition. After much deliberation the top 3 masks were chosen. Our winners were: Jack, Tara and Logan. Well done to all the entrants and especially to the prize winners.

The children all made a great effort dressing up for Hallowe’en. The all looked fantastic!

The children had lots of fun making and eating their chocolate apples for Hallowe’en.

The children enjoyed learning about and creating their own animal prints.n They also constructed conker men as an art project.

Our History and Geography wall

Second class children discussed and completed their family trees.

The children discussed their local area in depth, and wrote about areas of interest to them. We went on a walk to Drumlane Abbey.

The children have been learning about the human skeleton and had great fun making skeletons using cotton wool buds.
